Hughes AH-64 Apache - The best so far ....

The Apache AH-64 is a four-bladed, twin-engine attack helicopter with reverse-tricycle landing gear and cockpit in tandem for a crew of two. The Apache was developed by Hughes as a model of 77 helicopters for the U.S. Army Advanced Attack Helicopter program to replace the AH-1 Cobra. First, 1 flew in October 1975, the AH-64 has a nose-mounted sensor suite for target acquisition and night vision systems. The AH-64 aircraft systems have double and triple redundancy to improveSurvival of the aircraft and crew in action, as well as improved crash survivability for the pilot. At the end of 1981, the AH-64 name in line with the traditional use of the American army Indian tribal names for its helicopters "Apache". Hughes was approved for full scale production in 1982. In 1983 the first production helicopter with Hughes helicopter plant in Mesa, Arizona rolled. The first AH-64D Apache Longbow prototype flew April 15, 1992. The first productionAH-64D flew on 17 March 1997 and 31st Army Delivered in March 1997. The AH-64 is powered by two General Electric T700 turboshaft with top mounted exhaust on both sides of the rotor. The Apache has a four-bladed main installation of the tail rotor and four rotor blades. The crew is in tandem with the pilot sitting behind and above the copilot-gunner in an armored cockpit.
