Europe builds Galileo (better than GPS)

Galileo becomes a reality. This joint initiative by the European Commission and the European Space Agency began its orbit verification phase with the launch of GIOVE-A in December 2005. Both space systems and transmission equipment for receiving signals from the base are currently being tested and calibrated. After this phase is the actual transition from theory to practice with the introduction of four additional satellites once the test is complete,Part of the operational constellation. Once the network of 30 Galileo satellites is complete, the system will be capable of being located in its many applications, the supply of and around the world. Precise navigation and search and rescue operations are just two of many possible examples. Credit: ESA (European Space Agency) www.esa.int eucitizens.eu Forum
