GPS Controlled Solar Array
This was my design project for my final year as a Mechanical Engineer undergrad at Polytechnic University in Brooklyn. Simply put... it's a solar panel that is able to project the sun position based on data (date, time latitude and longitude) read in from a GPS device. It then attempts to maintain a normal angle between the sun and the panel even if it changes position or orientation. Has application for mobile charging but for stationary systems photo-resistors would be more efficient. This is the only video we took (should have taken more!)

With a maximum takeoff weight of 6.5 kg, the flying wing-shaped spacecraft can carry a payload of 1.2 kg to a maximum height of 10,000 feet, wearing a flight mission up to 90 minutes at 500 2000 meters above the ground. Orbiter is designed for simple and easy-to-oneOperators. And 'during his mission, even during take-off and independent, and requires minimal training to operate or support. Orbiter is equipped with a color electro-optical payload, with a CCD sensor with 10x optical zoom lens for daylight operations. An optional sensor uses near the low light level camera. The D-STAMP payload weight of 650 grams is a light at night in place of payload development - which will weigh 0.98 kg. With a low acoustic signature,Orbiter is optimized for quiet operation even at very low levels. Equipped with modern avionics package, GPS and inertial navigation system (INS) and data link system provides real-time transmission of images of the orbiter up to 15 km. The Orbiter 1 meter in length and a wingspan of 2.2 meters.
